Beauty Buys Gift Guide

I had to put together a guide specifically dedicated to beauty gifts. They can be an affordable gift on their own to send to a friend or place on a coworker’s desk. They can fit in a stocking, or can be a larger gift as a kit. Many are products I swear by, while others are from brands I love.

Gift Sets

Kits can introduce someone to their new favorite brand. While it’s of course cheaper to buy in bulk, a kit can be an affordable way to give a more grand gift. They can be stately when wrapped under the tree. I’m especially impressed by the packaging of the Grown Alchemist kit and the Oribe kit.

Makeup

When choosing makeup, it’s best to give items that would look great on a range of skin tones and textures. Instead of a matte lipstick or a bold eyeshadow, I tried to find buildable, natural products. A few of my all-time favorite beauty picks are the Naked 2 Basics palette and the Glossier Cloud Paint. Pretty much anything by Glossier, honestly.

Skincare

I have used the Slip silk sleep mask all year, and I love the gold version. My grandmother swore by using silk pillowcases, as she believed they fought wrinkles. Slip also makes a silk sleep mask and pillowcase kit, to battle wrinkles and hair frizz simultaneously. A different kind of gold eye mask is the LA PURE 24K Gold Eye Treatment Mask, which treats puffiness in the most decadent way possible.

Fragrance

I narrowed my fragrance list down to my all-time favorites. The Rose 31 by Le Labo is unisex, making it a useful gift for a couple. The rollerball version of Maison Louis Marie No.04 makes a thoughtful gift, as it can be carried in a purse more easily than a bottle of perfume. Gabrielle by Chanel is my newest scent I own, and symbolically represents the real person behind the pseudonym Coco Chanel.

Hair

I used an entire bottle of the Money Maker hairspray this year, and my hair hasn’t been the same ever since I ran out. It is a flexible hold, but makes your hair lay quite nicely. I use the Drybar detangling brush, which does not tug or break your hair (also designed to work well with extensions). For anyone with dry, damaged or highlighted hair, Olaplex No.3 is a deeply hydrating hair mask.

Nails

The J.Hannah nail polish is a nearly clear coat that adds a bit of gold sparkle. The Essie gel polish made my nails grow out to their longest length ever in my life; it gave my nails flexibility and strength. I also am eyeing the Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream.
